International Students Immerse Themselves in Jiujiang Tea Culture at 8th Famous Tea & Spring Expo
JIUJIANG, China, May 7, 2026 – Thirty international students from Jiujiang University stepped into the heart of Chinese tea culture today at the 8th Jiujiang International Famous Tea & Spring Expo, held at the Changqing Pavilion in Letian Shengjing.
Invited by the expo organizing committee, the students toured the historic pavilion, attended the opening ceremony, and participated in a guided tour of the Jiujiang Tea Market. The event offered them a firsthand experience of the region’s deep-rooted tea heritage and the vibrant integration of tea production, culture, and tourism.
While savoring cups of fragrant tea, international students listened attentively as a tea master explained the historical origins and production techniques of Jiujiang tea, gaining a more vivid understanding of local specialties such asLushan Yunwu tea (庐山云雾茶) and Ninghong tea (宁红茶).
“This is my first time attending a tea culture event,” said Mark, an international student from Jiujiang University. “The atmosphere was so lively, and I got to taste many different teas." Green tea is my favorite — it’s healthy and refreshing. When I return to my hometown, I will definitely bring Jiujiang green tea to my family and share this wonderful experience with them.”
Many international students expressed that through this event, they not only had the opportunity to taste authentic Jiujiang specialty teas, but also experienced the profound Chinese tradition of bonding with friends and hosting guests through tea. A student from a country along the Belt and Road remarked with emotion, "Tea is a bridge that connects different cultures. In Jiujiang, I witnessed the perfect integration of tea with the natural landscape, with history, and with daily life. This has given me a deeper understanding and greater love for Chinese culture."
The expo, themed “Discover Jiujiang Tea—Twin Treasures of Tea and Spring,” runs from May 7 to 8. It features tea exhibitions, quality evaluation sessions, a tea king auction, live-streaming sales, and curated tea tourism routes. The event aims to further promote Jiujiang’s tea culture, boost the integration of the tea industry with tourism, and support the high-quality development of local specialty agriculture.
According to a representative from Jiujiang University, organizing such cultural immersion activities for international students is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to promote cross-cultural exchange and global understanding.
